The radiocarbon dates of the lower and middle parts of Layer VI at Motza point to two occupational phases between 8440-8300 BC and 8300-8270 BC. The interpretation of these dates has to await the final publication of the site in order to compare them with the detailed stratigraphy of the early PPNB Layer VI (Khalaily et al. 2007). The slightly younger dates of the upper part of Layer VI (L 2082; L 2138) point to a range between 8260 BC and 7980 BC. [1]
[1] The two later published Toronto dates (TO 11712; TO 11711) were not factored into the analysis (Khalaily et al. 2007:11). However, they would broaden the range of the sum only slightly to 8470-8220 BC (68.2%). The humic acid samples of the original sample RTT 4865 are slightly younger and therefore not considered either.
